cop out trailer

The first trailer for Kevin Smith’s latest film has finally been released and it’s seriously lacking. The film was originally entitled A Couple of Dicks, which was too hardcore so they switched it to A Couple of Cops, and now it’s Cop Out, which is quite fitting. It features Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan doing their spin on the buddy cop action flicks of the eighties…

Cop Out centers on two longtime NYPD partners on the trail of a stolen, rare, mint-condition baseball card find themselves up against a merciless, memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Jimmy (Willis) is the veteran detective whose missing collectible is his only hope to pay for his daughter’s upcoming wedding, and Paul (Morgan) is his “partner-against-crime” whose preoccupation with his wife’s alleged infidelity makes it hard for him to keep his eye on the ball.

The cast is rounded out with Sean William Scott and Adam Brody, two actors who have yet to branch out from their roles as Stifler (American Pie) and Seth (The O.C.). Is it just me or do they play the same character in everything? Now that the official title and trailer has been released, my enthusiasm for this film has diminished. There’s a part of me hoping that Cop Out is a play on words as to how Smith really feels about the studio pressuring him to change the movie’s title.

Here’s the trailer…
