The Coen Brothers True Grit remake is moving full speed ahead, and the directors are on the look out for their leading lady. Rumor has it that the majority of the male roles have been filled with the likes of Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin. But instead of dipping into the Hollywood pool of actresses, the Coen’s are opening the floodgates to the general public. Do you think you could star opposite this group of heavy hitters?
The original True Grit is an American western that was released 40 years ago in 1969. The film was directed by Henry Hathaway and earned John Wayne his first and only Academy Award for Best Actor. The story of the film centers on a U.S. Marshal (Bridges), his sidekick (Damon), and a 14 year old girl who tags along as they try and track down her father’s killer. The story’s point of view is taken from that of Marshall “Rooster” Cogburn, while the Coen’s remake we will follow the vantage point of the young girl.
The casting call is for the female character Mattie, a hard as nails young woman who lives in Arkansas during the post-Civil War era.
