So now that you’ve had the chance to see James Cameron‘s self-proclaimed masterpiece Avatar starring Sam Worthington (who had an American accent for most of the film), Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver, what did you think? As you can tell from my review, I thought it was as epic as it needed to be, but still had a number of problems.
The hype for this film was so intense that it’s hard to imagine anything living up to it. Cameron himself commented on the fact that the buzz might actually be the films greatest downfall. Can anything live up to the expectations fans had for it?
That being said, many of you can still appreciate the film but notice that there were a few faults, one of them being that Sam Worthington was only mostly American… Don’t get me wrong, I thought he gave an amazing performance and did a great job with the accent overall. The fact that the didn’t ADR some of him lines (which could have been easily done, especially when he was a giant blue-cat-alien) is beyond me. The fact that his accent slipped out is common for actors, but there must have been some choice by someone sitting in a high position that decided that it didn’t really matter. So…
