deadpool Zombieland Writers to Take on Deadpool?

There hasn’t been a lot of movement on the Deadpool spin-off thanks to Ryan Reynold’s decision to concentrate on The Green Lantern. But that’s OK because the film needs time to develop its creative team and nail down a decent script. According to a recent post on Chud, the duo behind the comedy hit, Zombieland may be on board to give Wade Wilson his voice.

According to sources, Fox is looking to screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to get their Deadpool project off the ground. There hasn’t been a solid confirmation regarding this info, so the story is being considered as a “strong rumor.” But if everything goes according to plan, there might be an announcement in the trades fairly soon.

Hopefully this is true because if Zombieland‘s any indication of Reese and Wernick’s talent, they can definitely handle the comedic tone of the “merc with a mouth.” The biggest concern would be revamping Deadpool’s story after it was, for lack of a better word, mutilated in X-Men Origins Wolverine. It’s time to start from scratch with this character, which means picking up a comic book and staying away from board meetings. When will Fox learn that you can never go wrong with the source material?

Do you think Reese and Wernick would be good choices for the Deadpool movie?
