The digital effects company Weta has wrapped production on James Cameron’s Avatar, but they still have plenty of work on their plates. According to MarketSaw, the Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson collaboration of Tintin is their next order of business, which will be followed by the upcoming film, The Hobbit.

According to the site, Weta’s first delivery for Tintin is due at the end of January, which means they’ll be working through the Christmas holiday. They’ve also been informed that their next assignment will be the Guilermo del Toro adaptation of The Hobbit, and their taking the necessary steps to prepare for the shoot. Weta is building two new indoor stages behind Weta Digital just for the film’s production that’s expected to start later next year.

Rumors have been floating around that many of the artists aren’t particularly fond of working on Tintin and its high concentration of animation. Either way, Avatar should be in the can since it opens in less than two weeks, and Tintin is still a work in progress. I’m sure a lot of you can’t wait for both films to come out so you can see if they deserve all the hype.

What do you think of Weta taking on Avatar, Tintin, and The Hobbit?
