Brad Pitt is an accomplished actor and producer who’s had his hand in a lot of successful films. Does Best Picture winner The Departed ring a bell? According to THR, Pitt’s latest producing gig will have him teaming up with Twilight‘s Summit Entertainment for a Dracula remake entitled, Vlad.
The story of Vlad centers on Dracula as a young prince who is known throughout history as Vlad the Impaler, the man behind the Dracula myth. The script for the film was written by actor Charlie Hunnam whom you might remember for his work on the short lived Judd Apatow show Undeclared or his current gig on the FX series, Sons of Anarchy. Summit has their eye on music video director Anthony Mandler to helm the film, with Pitt and his Plan B Entertainment company co-producing.
For some odd reason Summit kept the development of Vlad under lock and key before breaking the news to the media. Perhaps they waited because they didn’t want to be considered a one trick vampire pony? Sources say the studio hopes to use the film to usher in new talent, similar to what they did for the cast of Twilight. At this point we’ve all had our fair share of vampire movies and TV shows, so by the time this film is released the craze may be over. This sounds like a risky investment for all parties involved.
What do you think of Brad Pitt teaming up with Summit for Vlad?
