The Bourne 4 drama continues to unfold as star Matt Damon finally speaks out about his involvement with the film. Earlier this week, would be director Paul Greengrass sent out an official statement explaining his decision to leave the franchise. A decision that left fans wondering if Damon would stay on board without his direction.
Matt Damon took part in a press conference for his film Invictus earlier today, and at the end of it he was cornered by reporters who wanted to know about his future with the Bourne series. It’s not clear if Damon was aware of the statement that Greengrass previously released, but here’s what he had to say:
“When [Greengrass] wants to do one, we’ll do it,” said Damon.
“Are you saying that it’s Greengrass or no ‘Bourne’?” one reporter asked.
“Yeah, I’ve always said that,” replied the actor, adding, “But I think it’ll happen down the road. We just don’t have a script yet.”
Isn’t this an interesting turn of events? Damon’s working relationship with Greengrass goes beyond Bourne, as he also worked with him on the upcoming thriller, Green Zone. The last time we heard, they had two scripts in development for Bourne 4, so why hasn’t one of them been nailed down? Perhaps the lack of organization was the real reason behind Greengrass’ exit.
Do you think Damon should return without Greengrass?
