Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most talented thespians of his generation and he’s decided to take on a new acting challenge. According to ComingSoon, the multiple Oscar nominee has signed on to lend his voice to the upcoming DreamWorks animated feature, The Guardians.
DiCaprio is the first actor to be announced from the film that will be directed by Peter Ramsey, where he’ll star as Jack Frost in the project that’s currently under the working title The Guardians.
When an evil spirit called Pitch becomes bent upon taking over the world by inspiring fear in the hearts of kids everywhere, a group of our greatest heroes — Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman and Jack Frost — band together for the first time, determined to stand in Pitch’s way. More than a collection of storybook subjects, “The Guardians” are also a band of superheroes, who possess their own special powers. Now joined in opposition of a common foe, the Guardians heed the call and combine their powers to defeat Pitch and protect the world from his campaign of fear.
DreamWorks Animation is usually hit or miss in the storytelling department, but this seems interesting. The premise actually speaks to my inner child, and sounds like something the whole family can enjoy. The movie is based on the book The Guardians of Childhood, which was written by William Joyce. This is one of the few animated features from the studio that might be worth looking into.
What do you think of Leonardo DiCaprio taking on the voice of Jack Frost in The Guardians?
