In the majority of action films that feature a city being blown to kingdom come, 9 times out of 10 that city is New York. Every once in a while you might get Los Angeles, London or Paris, but it’s typically the good old Empire State that everyone wants to take down. Someone has actually created a video to highlight this fact and it’s hilarious and poignant all at the same time.

Check it out below…

Some of the films highlighted in this montage of destruction include Godzilla, King Kong (1976) (2005), Ghostbusters, X-Men, The Day After Tomorrow and many more. The footage is set to the tune of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” which kind of makes the visuals seem pleasant to watch. Perhaps Hollywood has an undercover agenda against New York City, even though some of the greatest actors of all time are from there.

NY is also one of the largest cities in the country, so if something happens there people pay attention. No one would care as much if a bomb dropped in Montana (no offense) where 5 people live. To further my point, here’s the video montage courtesy of the good folks at Goodie Bag, it’s “four decades of celluloid New York annihilation distilled into one musical montage.”

What do you think?
