Are you familiar with the old TV show, UFO? Neither am I, but apparently it was very popular in the 1970′s and will be adapted into a feature film. According to Variety, Dawson’s Creek and current Fringe star Joshua Jackson has been tapped to play the lead in the film version of the TV classic.
In UFO Jackson will star as a test pilot who joins S.H.A.D.O. (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization), a covert org built under a Hollywood studio that defends Earth against a race of aliens who have been abducting humans and using the body parts. The show was huge in Britain over thirty years ago, and out of nowhere the Robert Evans Company decided they wanted to turn it into a movie.
The remake craze is once again in full effect and will force us to fall victim to another unnecessary film. UFO will be directed by Matthew Gratzner who actually has an extensive background in visual effects. He worked on last year’s Iron Man as well as the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, Shutter Island. The only good thing about this is that we’ll get to see Jackson in another feature, his last leading role was in the blink and you missed it horror flick, Shutter.
