According to Variety, Steven Spielberg and Stephen King are teaming up to bring the author’s recent novel, “Under the Dome,” to the small screen. DreamWorks TV has optioned the book and will possibly create a cable series based on it. With the two Steve’s teaming up on a project this series might be epic.
King’s novel is about a small town in Maine that is suddenly enclosed in a dome-shaped invisible force field. As the town spirals out of control, the town divides into different factions lead by various characters. No writer has been set for the series yet, but Spielberg, King, and Stacey Snider are all on board to executive produce.
It sounds like “Under the Dome” has gotten fairly decent reviews from the critics. Part of me feels like the only reason people continue to adapt Stephen King novels into mini-series is because it’s been done for so long. They used to be awesome back in the day, but sadly, that’s no longer the case. Hopefully, this one will turn out to be a satisfactory piece of programming that you can watch when you can’t sleep at night. I wouldn’t hold my breath though.
What do you think? Would you watch this?
