Yesterday, we wrote a post stating that the digital effects company, Weta had officially finished their portion on James Cameron‘s Avatar, but apparently the work is far from over. According to SlashFilm, the last 30 minutes of the film has yet to be completed, and as many of you know, the release date is quickly approaching.
The film’s producer, James Landau, stated that there is still sound mixing, visual effects, and color mixing left to do. The movie is set to run somewhere between 2 hours 30-40 minutes, so a large chunk of it is done. On a project of this scale, the work was spread over many different visual effects and sound mixing companies. You can only imagine how long it would take to do the visuals on a movie like this. At least we know that one company has finished their portion of work, which is a good sign.
Rendering a single image takes such a long time, and with a movie like this, it takes forever. With the deadline quickly approaching everyone involved will be working down to the wire. Surely it’s stress city over there right now and those guys are working their butts off to get this movie finished.
