cox, mcmahon, borgnine, dreyfuss join red

The live action adaptation of the comic Red is starting to get ridiculous, but in a good way. As we’ve previously mentioned, the cast features Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, and John C. Reilly. Now according to THR, several more talented individuals have hopped on this movie train, including three legends and one evil doctor.

Brian Cox, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss, and Julian McMahon have all taken on roles in the upcoming film from Summit Entertainment. Red tells the tale of a former black ops agent (Willis), now in retirement, who has to contend with younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him.

McMahon would play a Vice President with a dark side who is at the center of a shadow conspiracy. Borgnine will play the keeper of the CIA’s darkest records, while Dreyfuss will be a wealthy man who builds a fortune out of lucrative government contracts. Cox is a former Cold War spy and nemesis of Willis. Realistically would Cox play anything else? He’s always that guy who’s up to no good.

Red might turn out to be something worth taking a look at, even though the company behind it is known for producing suspect projects (Twilight, ehem).
