A new photo has popped up online from the David O. Russell boxing drama, The Fighter. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, along with Oscar nominees Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. It’s based on a true story and is scheduled to hit theaters sometime next year.

From acclaimed director David O. Russell comes The Fighter, the powerful true story of professional boxers Dickie (Bale) and Micky (Wahlberg). Although they are half brothers, their careers take very different courses. Older brother Dickie does not suffer from a shortage of talent or confidence, but his lack of judgment and humility lead him down a path of self-destruction. After blowing his shot against one of the greatest fighters of his generation, Dickie descends down a dangerous road of drug addiction that robs him of his career, alienates his brother, and eventually lands him in jail.

Meanwhile, discouraged from yet another defeat, younger brother Micky, whose talent never seems to match the size of his heart, vanishes into early retirement. But his itch to fight never goes away, and when a rehabilitated Dickie is released from prison and takes over as Micky’s trainer, Micky transforms himself from an underdog into a world champion prized pugilist.

This film could possibly earn Wahlberg another Oscar nod, but in the lead actor category. The Fighter has had its fair share of production troubles before any other actors or even the director was on board, and Wahlberg stuck with it from the beginning to the end. On the other hand, this might also put a spotlight on Bale who’s always given strong performances, but hasn’t gotten his fair share of credit. It’s going to be exciting to see how all this unfolds.

Some people bitched when Wahlberg was put into this role. I think he's perfect for it. I also think Christian Bale is the perfect choice to play Dickie, and I hope Christian gets a nomination out of this one. He's been denied for "Empire of the Sun," "American Psycho," and "Rescue Dawn." The Oscar elite need to pull their heads out of their asses and at least nominate this brilliant actor. He pours his heart and soul into his performances and they act like it's nothing. When he finally does get nominated, I'm going to have a party. When he wins, I will buy an expensive bottle of champagne and toast his success. He's given me so much joy through his work, I can't imagine what I'd do if he retired or gave it up. Cannot WAIT to see "The Fighter." I hope it doesn't let me down.
