A teaser poster has been quickly whipped up by the folks over at The Weinstein Company in promotion of the new film, Scream 4 and it’s a teaser in every meaning of the word. It features the infamous Woodsboro Killer and a fresh new tagline that highlights the theme of the new trilogy. That’s right, this is the first of three new Scream movies.

The poster was definitely thrown together at the last minute by the marketing people at the studio, because this looks kind of cheap. The only thing that’s saving it is the fact that it’s a teaser, which means a cooler, more elaborate theatrical version will be on the way shortly. This film will debut ten years after the last one, so they have to go big or go home.
Over at MTV, creator and writer Kevin Williamson dropped a few minor plot details regarding the new film’s story. Check it out:
“The fourth one is an ensemble,” Williamson said of his “Scream 4″ script, which is being concurrently written with a fifth script as well. “It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We’ll have our three main characters, and we’ll be introducing several more.”
He went on to say that the return of the three main characters, Sydney, Gale, and Dewey will be used to usher in several new characters who will take us through the rest of the trilogy. One of the things Scream did so well was poke fun at the horror genre, while still terrifying its audience. It wasn’t a down right comedy like Scary Movie, but it wasn’t a dark thriller either.
So many things have changed over the past decade, we can only hope that Williamson can still bring his A game.
