Nicolas Cage’s Dad August Coppola Dead at 75
By Krystal Clark
August Coppola, the father of Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage has died. According to The Inquisitr, Coppola was a literature professor at San Francisco State University, as well as the dean of creative arts. Like most members of his family, August excelled in the artistic field, but chose to focus on education rather than the film industry.
August died of a heart attack on Tuesday, at the age of 75. Not only was he the father of Nicolas Cage (Coppola), but he’s the brother of Award winning director Francis Ford Coppola. Besides Nicolas, he had two other sons, Christopher and Marc, as well as three grandchildren. August was the son of composer Carmine Coppola, and Italia Pennino.
The Coppola clan runs deep, and the unfortunate loss of August will be felt throughout his extended family members. He was the uncle of Sophia and Roman Coppola, as well as Jason Schwartzman through his sister Talia Shire. No further updates have been given regarding his passing, but we’ll be sure to inform you as they come in.

Our prayers are with the Coppola family at this time of great loss. I am truly upset because last week I had a dream about going to a funeral and Nicolas Cage was there but I could not figure why I was there.
