The film easily became the biggest blockbuster this summer even with its scathing reviews from both critics and fans, but I thought we were done with them? According to Home Media Magazine , ROTF hit the DVD charts last week and broke records left and right, bringing in even more Autobot dough.
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen continues to make its mark, and this time it’s in the home entertainment field. The DVD became the top selling disc release of the year by moving 7.5 million units it’s first week. That’s not all, check out the rest of the numerical breakdown of this travesty.
- ROTFL is the biggest-selling Blu-ray Disc release of 2009, with first-week sales of 1.2 million units.
- It holds the record for the most single day sales with 2 million discs its first day, and 500,000 of them were in Blu-ray Disc format.
- Debuted at number one across the board with the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, Home Media Magazine’s rental chart and the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray Disc sales chart.
What happened? I thought we hated this movie? This is the same thing that happened with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Everyone left the theaters in disgust and claimed it was terrible, yet it also raked in a lot of dough when the DVD went on sale! What’s really going on?
