New Percy Jackson and The Olympians Poster

The nerd in me will not let the upcoming fantasy film, Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief go. As a fan of Greek and Roman mythology the movie has become one to watch for me. A new poster has been released in promotion of the film, and it’s a lot less muted than the previous one sheet. This one actually shows some action, or should I say someone getting ready for some action?

It looks like this kid is ready for something big. Percy Jackson is based on the popular book series by author Rick Riordan, that mixes epic fantasy with reality. The film version will be based on The Lightning Thief and will center on Poseidon’s son, a 12-year-old boy, who sets out on a quest in present-day America to rescue his mother, return Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt and prevent a civil war from erupting among the gods.
The film stars Sean Bean as Zeus, Kevin McKidd as Poseidon, Steve Coogan as Hades, Uma Thurman as Medusa, Rosario Dawson as Persephone, and Melina Kanakardes as Athena. The film is directed by Chris Columbus and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 12, 2010.

Percy Jackson is the man. And why do people trash this saying it is to close to Harry Potter. I mean there are similarities but there are many differences. Anyway didn't Harry Potter kind of come off of the Narnia series. There are bound to similarities every fantasy book and movie but that doesn't mean you have to trash it. How are we going to enjoy new fantasy novels with everyone saying that it is too close to Harry Potter. By the way the poster looks cool.
