Here’s some directing news for you this morning, remember the 2007 adaptation of the popular video game, Hitman? The film was directed by Xavier Gens and according to Screendaily he will helm another action packed project entitled, The Fallout. The feature will be a post-apocalyptic thriller set in New York.
The Fallout will be produced by Ross Dinerstein, Darryn Welch, and Tony Krantz, with a script written by Karl Mueller. The description for the film isn’t exactly much to write home about but it’s said to be “a thriller that combines elements of Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies in a story of survival.” Hmm, don’t even get me started on Assault on Precinct 13. A film that took place in my native Detroit, yet the setting was near the woods somewhere, when the actual precinct in downtown. That really got under my skin.
Anyway, the producers for The Fallout seem to see it as the be all, end all of apocalyptic movies.
“Xavier’s vision for this film is extraordinary. He brings a visual edge to this fascinating exploration of the human condition,” commented producer Ross Dinerstein.
“With a collective of ‘End of the World’ movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out like a ravenous Pit bull in a school playground… brace yourselves cause this film has a serious bite to it!” said Producer Darryn Welch.
I would say I believed them, but then I’d be lying. Hitman was lackluster in the storytelling department even though it’s direction wasn’t half bad. That’s the only reason I’m giving Xavier half a chance on this one.
What do you think of Xavier Gens directing The Fallout?
