Tom Cruise and John Woo Reunite for Flying Tigers?

Tom Cruise may once again be under the direction of his Mission Impossible II helmer, John Woo. According to ComingSoon, Woo has been working on an upcoming film entitled, Flying Tigers for New Regency and Cruise is the top pick to star. The screenplay for the film was written by Christopher McQuarrie, who also co-wrote the script to another Cruise flick, Valkyrie.
Comingsoon caught up with John Woo to see if they could get some specifics on what’s really going with the project.
It’s based on a true story in WWII, about a group of American volunteer fighter pilots who worked with the Chinese Air Force fighting with the Japanese and they won the war. Also, it’s the story of Clair Chennault, and they did a great contribution for the Chinese, and the Chinese people love and respect them. The whole story is about a friendship between a Chinese and an American and they worked together.”
To top this off, Variety recently ran a report on New Regency’s upcoming slate, where they listed Flying Tigers with Tom Cruise already attached, so even though Woo didn’t confirm it a lot of fingers are pointing in that direction. It’s not as if the guy doesn’t have experience flying planes. Besides, MI:2 is the best film out of the Mission Impossible trilogy, and it made the most bank at the box office with over 500 million dollars world wide. Woo may be Cruise’s good luck charm.
What do you think of Cruise and Woo teaming up again?
