The Losers Teaser Poster

The LATimes ran a story with film producer Akiva Goldman yesterday discussing a few comic book movie releases, and throughout the article a little piece of promotion slipped through for The Losers. The film is the Warner Bros adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name. Oddly enough, the actors are all shown as animated versions of themselves, but it’s still them none the less.

The Losers are a special black-ops team whose members originated from several different branches of the military. In their own units, each one of them at some point or another lost a soldier under their command, hence they dubbed themselves “The Losers.” Morgan plays Sargent Clay, Elba is Roque, Evans is Jensen, Short is Pooch, Saldana is Aisha, and Jaenada is Cougar.

As you can see, every character is described and accounted for with their assigned actor. The tagline for the film reads, “You don’t give them orders. You just turn them loose.” Isn’t that bad ass? The film will be directed by Sylvain White, and is scheduled for release on April 9, 2010. On an interesting side note, the screenplay for the film was written by director Peter Berg (Hancock).
