The follow up to the 2007 vampire film, 30 Days of Night has been inching through production undetected by most movie buffs, but I’ve been watching it like a hawk. The last time we heard anything about the film it had to do with the hiring of Ben Ketai as the new director. From that point on several major casting developments have been made that include some familiar TV actors from HBO’s Entourage, Showtime’s The L Word, and even ABC’s Lost.
According to BloodyDisgusting, the cast of 30 Days of Night: Dark Days includes,
Rhys Coiro, who plays the infamous Billy in Entourage and takes on a major role in Screen Gems’ Straw Dogs remake, takes on one of the lead roles. Mia Kirshner of The Black Dahlia and Party Monster) plays the lead vampire villain “Lilith. Also starring are Harold Perrineau (Lost, 28 Weeks Later), the beautiful Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway, Insanitarium, Lost) and genre vet Diora Baird (Night of the Demons, Texas Chiansaw Massacre: Te Beginning, Stan Helsing).
The story of the follow up is supposed to pick up with the last film’s female lead, Stella but Melissa George won’t be reprising the role. They don’t clarify which actress will play the vacant part, but it has to be one of the remaining actresses mentioned. Now here’s the crappy news, this will be a direct to DVD sequel. Blasphemy! The first film wasn’t a masterpiece, but I’ve seen worse earn a theatrical released sequel.
No official date has been given for when the DVD will hit stores, but stay tuned and we’ll let you know.
What do you think of the cast for 30 Days of Night: Dark Days?
