The teaser trailer for James Cameron‘s Avatar received lack luster reviews from fans and critics alike. Those of us who got to see the film in its 3-D element at Comic-Con felt like it was a poor representation of what the film actually is. That was back in August, and we hear from a little birdie that a new extended trailer will hit theaters this Friday, and it’s supposed to blow our minds.
The first thing that’s being stated about this new trailer is the running time. It’s said to clock in at 3 minutes and 30 seconds according to Comingsoon. It will debut in theaters on October 23rd, but won’t officially hit the net until October 29th. Boo! Fox wants to expand on the story in the trailer so viewers can get a better understanding of what the movie’s really about, which I can understand because to the naked eye that last one didn’t cut it.
Avatar won’t hit theaters in the U.S. until December 18th, but has already begun opening overseas.
The film takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads an epic battle to save a civilization. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of Titanic, first conceived the film years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.
