Chris Messina has been cast in the lead role of the Dowdle Brothers’ horror-thriller film Devil. Written by 30 Days of Night writer Brian Nelson, Devil is the first film in the Night Chronicles series, a trio of thrillers in which M. Night Shyamalan will create the premise then pass the idea off to other filmmakers to be developed in the future.
According to First Showing, the plot is being kept under wraps, but rumor has it that Messina will play a “sobered-up homicide detective.” That doesn’t tell us much, but it’s a start. The film also stars TV actors Logan Marshall-Green, Jenny O-Hara Matt Craven, and Jacob Vargas (Selena).
Messina has worked with amazing actors and directors such as Sam Mendes in Away We Go, Meryl Streep in Julie & Julia, and Woody Allen in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Devil will be Messina’s first lead role, but as of now we’re still unsure on whether or not this will be his big break since no plot details have been revealed. All will be revealed in time.
