scott stewart developing psy-ops

Scott Stewart plans on making the jump from renegade angels in Legion and bloodsucking vampires in Priest to psycho soldiers in Psy-Ops according to THR.  The director came up with the initial story for the project, and went on to develop it with Gus Krieger. Bold Films have picked up the story and already have a director attached. Also, the film won’t be based on the video game of the same name, I just liked the about photo.

Psy-Ops “revolves around a covert U.S. military unit of psychological operatives who specialize in exploiting their target’s deepest fears. When on a routine mission to the Amazon Basin, they discover something more terrifying than they could have imagined.” With this as their basic outline, Bold Films plans on producing a film that will be a mixture of Predators and Aliens with the psychological tone and visual realism of such 21st century movies as Black Hawk Down and the Bourne series.

That sounds like a large pill to swallow, especially for Stuart Maschwitz who is set to make his directorial debut with the film. They’re taking on a lot of different themes for one cohesive story. The outline for the movie sounds fine, but when they threw in aliens and Jason Bourne they lost me. I think they’re trying to do a little too much.

What do you think about Stewart’s story for Psy-Ops?
