Want to be involved in a commercial that will be seen by a number of Hollywood professionals, the American people, and oh yeah, the President himself? Well now’s your chance! President Obama is turning to Hollywood to ask for support. In a grass roots effort to create a TV commercial to promote health care reform, a group of filmmakers have been selected to help pick a 30-second commercial that will air nationally. All you have to do, create a spot that you think is worthy by October 18!
Among the list of judges we have a wide variety of talent involved including; Will.I.Am, John Cho, Rosario Dawson, Dulé Hill, Seth MacFarlane, Brandon Routh, Kate Walsh and Olivia Wilde. Hollywood will join the Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine, DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon, Rep. Patrick Murphy of Pennsylvania, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe and volunteers to pick the commercial.
The contest is being run by Obama’s political arm, Organizing for America which is a part of the DNC. Natalie Foster, the OFA’s new media director, said in an e-mail…
“We know that compelling videos can touch people in a way that words alone simply cannot… The messages that regular people put together will make a bigger difference than any false smears or slick ads the other side can dream up. And who knows — your creative, powerful, or touching video could help tip the balance in favor of health reform.”
Who thinks this is a good idea for Obama to be reaching out to all those Hollywood types?
