Don’t act surprised Call of Duty fans, you knew this moment would come sooner or later. According to a report on Trademork, Activision has filed to protect the copyright of the popular video game property. This has given some people the impression that a feature film is in the works, which means Nazi zombies could be on their way.
Earlier this summer, there had been reports from various trades that Activision was already working on a deal to develop a Call of Duty movie. These reports were quickly put into question when the company’s CEO Bobby Kotick declined to comment on the film’s status. Call of Duty is a popular single player video game that was originally released in 2003, and went on to become a mega-hit. Due to its immense success it spawned several spin-offs, so I’m not surprised that a film may soon be on the horizon.
For a lot of die-hard gamers out there this movie can be seen as a blessing and a curse. Whenever any type of film adaptation is produced some things get left out, while others take center stage. Are they going to try and make this a serious war film? How can they do that with zombies running around?
What do you think of a possible Call of Duty movie in the works?
