transformers 3 updates

The first sign of the apocalypse has been revealed with Michael Bay‘s announcement that Transformers 3 has begun pre-production. It took a long time for me to get the disturbing taste of Revenge of the Fallen out of my mouth, and now I have to brace myself for its follow up. Over at Bay’s official website, he gave an update of the sequel’s story and the film’s ever pending release date.

Here’s what Bay had to say on his Official Shoot for the Edit Forum:

Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.

Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3.

Well, those were the two things we all wanted to hear. The release date has been set in stone for July 1, 2011, and Megan Fox will be back. I hope you felt the sarcasm in that last statement, because that was the intention. First off, we already knew Transformers 3 would be released in 2011, because Paramount announced it back in March! He’s the one who said he wasn’t returning unless the date was pushed back to 2012.

Secondly, these new characters that he mentioned worry me, because he doesn’t know how to incorporate useful additions to the cast. ROTF was filled with people who had dialogue and served no purpose. Unless they can show me something different the third time around, I’ll catch Transformers 3 on DVD.

What do you think of the latest updates regarding Transformers 3? Are you looking forward to another film?
