Smit-Mcphee, Moretz, and Jenkins Cast in Let Me In
By Krystal Clark
For weeks there have been casting rumors regarding who will star in the American remake of Let the Right One In entitled, Let Me In. According to THR, Academy Award nominee Richard Jenkins, 500 Days of Summer co-star Chloe Moretz, and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) have all signed on for roles in the film. The original movie was a Swedish horror film that centered on love, isolation, and vampires.
The film follows an overlooked and bullied boy named Owen (Smit-McPhee) who finds love and revenge through Abby (Moretz), a beautiful but peculiar girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders who turns out to be a vampire. Jenkins will star as Abby’s father figure, a role that was rumored for Phillip Seymour Hoffman. The film’s producers had been scouting the country looking for possible leads, for both the children and the adult roles. They wanted the chemistry between the three actors to be just right.
Swedish producers John Nordling and Carl Molinder, who produced the original film, are also involved as producers on this remake. Production on Let Me In begins this fall in New Mexico. The casting of Moretz and Smit-Mcphee is perfect, because both actors are very talented, and have previously taken on roles that required them to act with dark material.

Oh boy…. I loved Let The Right One in and now they're gonna do this?
Can we Americans not read subtitles or is it that ever so American thought of entitlement that leads us to believe that if a movie isn't in English it isn't really a movie?
Maybe they'll make it into a popcorn movie. Ooh I know give the little female vampire a giant robot protector that changes into a car. That'll surely put butts in the seats. YAWN. We're doomed.
