The multi-talented Stanely Tucci can do it all, so his latest acting role doesn’t come as a shock. According to Variety, the actor is set to star in the film musical Burlesque alongside some pretty hefty vocalists. Tucci will co-star alongside Oscar winner Cher, and Grammy winner Christina Aguilera. My ears start to bleed just thinking of those two trying hit a high note. What will poor Stanley do?
Burlesque will be reminiscent of those classic Bob Fosse musicals, most notably Cabaret. The story will center on a small town girl, as played by Aguilera who finds musical success in a neo-burlesque club. Tucci will play the manager of the Sunset Boulevard club and the best friend and confidante of Tess (Cher), a former dancer who takes the young girl under her wing. The film will be directed by Steve Antin, and will feature Cher’s first leading film role in a decade.
All of a sudden I feel like throwing up some jazz hands. This sounds like it has the potential to be a hot ticket for everyone involved. I like Cher as an actress and a musician. Even though she’s been around for over 40 years, she can still run with the best of them. Ms. Aguilera on the other hand definitely has the voice, but I’m not so sure about her acting skills. My verdict is still out on her. Tucci has his hands more than full with this project.
What do you think about Stanley Tucci joining Christina Aguilera and Cher in Burlesque?
