Two more actors have been cast in Kenneth Branagh‘s live action adaptation of Thor. According to Reuters, Colm Feore and Jaimie Alexander have just signed on to co-star. The film currently features Chris Hemsworth as the title character, Tom Hiddleston as his arch enemy Loki, and Natalie Portman as Thor’s love interest Jane Foster.
Colm Feore’s role is shrouded in mystery. The only thing the studio will reveal is that he’s a villain. Sources say his character is so top secret that they haven’t even sent the script to the actors yet. Jaimie Alexander’s character on the other hand isn’t so hush, hush. She will star as Sif, a skilled Asgardian warrior who can hold her own against any man. She also is one of Thor’s loves.
Thor centers on a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
I’m pretty excited that Jaimie got a part in this film. She used to be a regular on the ABC Family series, Kyle XY. Even though the general acting on that show was horrible, she was a bright spot among the rest. After the series’ quick cancellation last season, it’s good to know she booked another gig.
Thor is scheduled to hit theaters on May 20, 2011.
What do you think of Feore and Alexander joining the cast of Thor?
