Last week, we posted a story from actor Tim Pocock‘s Twitter page stating his involvement with the upcoming X-Men: First Class film. According to his latest posting, someone broke into his account and published that info without his permission. He clarified that he is filming an Australian TV show, but not working on First Class. X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner also stepped in to clear the air regarding the status of the upcoming film.
According to Pocock’s Twitter:
“victim of cruel prank.last tweet=NOT me.AM filming Aussie show till2010.no official word on XM:FC but am interested.please post retraction.”
This follow up tweet, confirms what the producers of the X-Men franchise have already been saying. Lauren Shuler Donner, spoke at a panel presentation for the DVD release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and entertained a few questions from the audience. In her responses regarding First Class she clearly stated that no start date has been set for the film, and no actors are signed on to star at this time.
The conversation wasn’t all negative. She went on to say that she had plans for an X-Men 4, but it hasn’t been pitched to the studio yet. How can they do an X4 when half the main cast is either dead or gone? You can’t have Wolverine in the fourth film because it would contrast too much with his solo movies. They’re all in different time periods. It’s confusing. Plus, the only reason I ever stood behind a fourth film was because I wanted Gambit involved, but that’s been ruined. They put him in the 1970′s with Wolverine so everything’s screwed up.
What do you think about the idea of an X-Men 4?
