The Scott Stewart adaptation Priest, has been filming in the Los Angles area for the past few weeks. With production underway, they’re still in the midst of making casting deals. Stewart announced on his official Twitter page that Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif have joined the ever growing cast of the film, but that’s not all. It also broke that actress Madchen Amick also signed on to co-star. Three actors in one day, such a coup for the director.
Priest centers on “a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.” The cast already includes Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, and Stephen Moyer. In the film, Madchen Amick will play the mother of the kidnapped niece. Plummer and Dourif’s roles haven’t been specified as of yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as anything is announced.
Christopher Plummer is still going strong with his career. I love to see older actors keep the same zest for their craft that they had during their youth. Madchen Amick on the other hand was a bit random in my opinion, but she’s done a lot of television work that covers every genre you could think of. I suppose the casting of certain actors was a budgetary concern more than anything. All in all, I do love how everything is shaping up.
