Clint Eastwood is fresh off of his directing stint on Invictus, a biopic that tells the story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of a South African rugby team to unite the country. In the film, Matt Damon was cast as one of the leads alongside Morgan Freeman. According to THR the director will reunite with the actor once again, and not only will these two powerhouses be involved with the project, but Steven Spielberg’s getting in on the action too.
The film in question is a supernatural thriller entitled Hereafter. The script was written by Oscar winner Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon), and caught Eastwood’s eye after he read an early draft. DreamWorks originally acquired the screenplay, but when the director stated his interest he was allowed to take over with Steven Spielberg’s blessing. Even though Eastwood has moved the project over to his base at Warner Bros., Spielberg will still be on board as an executive producer.
Not much has been said about what Damon’s role will be in the film. All we know, is that he’ll star as the lead character. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen Matt Damon in a supernatural movie, have you? This might be an interesting change of pace for the actor. There’s a first time for everything.
What do you think about Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon reuniting for Hereafter?
