It looks like The A-Team‘s cast is finally taking shape. Last week we reported that District 9 star Sharlto Copley was rumored to play the role of “Howling Mad” Murdock in the film, and according to THR it’s true. But he’s not the only one joining the team (no pun intended), actress Jessica Biel has been cast as the female lead in the Joe Carnahan adaptation of the popular television series.
According to the trade, both Copley and Biel are in final negotiations to join the film in their respective roles. If all goes well, Biel will play the former love of Faceman (Bradley Cooper), an Army general who is now pursuing the team. Once these two are officially on board the cast will be complete with Cooper, Liam Neeson as Hannibal, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus.
If you’re a fan of the TV series, you know the character of Murdoch is a little off the rocker. He was the resident nut job, who happened to be a skilled pilot. Since my only exposure to Copley is his work in District 9 I’m not sure how he’ll fair with comedy. He’s completely new to the acting game, and this will be a drastic step from his previous work. The remake of an eighties action comedy is about as Hollywood as you can get. I hope he’s up for the task. Go, Sharlto!
What do you think about Sharlto Copley and Jessica Biel joining The A-Team?
