Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are two of the most common actor-director combos in Hollywood. Campbell has made appearances in several Raimi productions in both television and film. Most recently, he’s made appearances in all three of the director’s live action adaptations of Marvel Comics Spider-Man. With the fourth installment of the web-slinging series on the horizon, the question had to be asked. What will Bruce’s role be in the upcoming film?
He may have a bigger role this time around. Bruce told Access that in the next installment in the superhero franchise, he’s been told he has a major part – but didn’t yet know anything about his character.
Rumors have been suggesting that he may play a well known villain in the film. I’ve heard so many different theories regarding possible characters, with the top pick being Mysterio. Even though it would be great to see Campbell featured in a larger capacity, I don’t think having him play the film’s main villain is the way to go. It would almost serve as a distraction from the story.
On another note, the actor confirmed that Spiderman 4 will begin filming in January of 2010. After reading that statement, it made me ask another question. Why are they making a Spiderman 4? The movie really is happening, and we’ll be forced to watch it either redeem or repulse the comic’s general fan base.
What do you think about Campbell having a larger role in Spiderman?
