After Oscar winner Nicolas Cage officially dropped out of the upcoming adaptation of the Green Hornet, it left a huge hole in the film. Mostly because he was supposed to star opposite Seth Rogen as the main villain. The film had just started its first week of production when Cage’s deal fell through, and now according to NikkiFinke, Inglourious Basterds co-star Christoph Waltz has landed the role.
The Austrian actor recently gained stateside acclaim for his portrayal of Col. Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino’s Nazi epic. Now at the tender age of 52 he is getting his first real taste of Hollywood. According to their source, Waltz will star as Chudnofsky, the nemesis of Rogen’s Britt Reid. The actor has already gained critical acclaim for his portrayal in Basterds, so it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world takes notice.
Waltz will be joining the cast that currently includes Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, and Edward James Olmos. Who the hell is Olmos playing in the film? We have no idea. Since his role is so top secret I hope he doesn’t decide to randomly, pop up and jump ship as well.
What do you think of Christoph Waltz replacing Nicolas Cage in the Green Hornet?
