Deadpool and Wolverine 2 Movie Updates
By Krystal Clark
With the current climate of Marvel Entertainment being so shaky, fans want to know what’s going on with their favorite comic based franchises. Two titles at the top of the Marvel list are Deadpool and the upcoming Wolverine sequel. Over at IGN they recently caught up with one of the producer’s on both films, Lauren Shuler Donner to find out their current status. What can we expect from the characters that we didn’t get in X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
Deadpool was the first order of business for Donner who says that the character will appear a lot different in his solo film than he did in Wolverine. “We’d kind of reboot it and make it the Deadpool that’s in the comics.” To that statement I say, Thank God! The bastardization of Deadpool in that movie was hard to watch. The biggest question on everyone’s mind has to do with star Ryan Reynolds. Now that he’s set to play the DC Comics hero (blasphemy!) Green Lantern, how will he balance the two?
When asked whether or not Reynolds would come back for the film once the script was ready she replied, “Yes, he would [return for it].”
As for Wolverine 2 and its Japanese storyline, she claims that it’s going to be a great script, and they’re “very excited about it.” The Usual Suspects scribe Christopher McQuarrie has been hired to pen the screenplay for the film, that will focus on the hero’s time overseas. According to Donner it was the storyline that was supposed to be used for the first film, but due to creative differences they ended up changing it to focus on his origin.
“They wanted to make sure that we weren’t just taking for granted that people saw the X-Men trilogy, we didn’t take for granted that people were coming into the movie and knew who Wolverine was. And they felt that they needed to lay that basement, that framework, by doing this movie.”
Either way, this time around, I won’t put all my eggs in one basket. Unless something miraculous happens with the story, I’ll wait for the movie to come out DVD. I’ve been burned too many times by the X-Men franchise.
What do you think about the latest Deadpool and Wolverine updates?

Deadpool's appearance in Wolverine was a discrace. I think it's too late to reboot though. They could have just done Deadpool differently altogether, but once you've established something then you need to keep that going. There has to be some way to continue off of Wolverine's ending. Have a few researchers search the area and find Deadpool's body. Then they could ship him off to Killebrew's lab for failed experiments. There, Killebrew could take out the blades, the thing behind his eyes that gave him optic blasts, and a device inside of him that made him teleport. When he notices that the nbody keeps healing, he curiously puts the head back on and Deadpool comees back to life for the Killebrew storyline with only the healing factor. They did say that the bonding process wasn't finished while making "Weapon XI" anyways. This disregards him being able to live without a head as the post-credits scene implies.
Just sayin'…
