Earlier this week, we confirmed that Sylvester Stallone would be returning for a fifth installment of the Rambo series. What could possibly top the graphic violence we saw in 2008′s Rambo (IV)? Over at AICN, they got an exclusive from Stallone himself regarding the direction of the new film’s story. They even have an early one-sheet poster promoting the latest film entitled, Rambo: The Savage Hunt.
From what we were told by the trades, The Savage Hunt will show Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. According to Stallone there’s a lot more to the story than what has been reported.
It is set in the Pacific Northwest. Back in the general area where we first were introduced to John. It seems that somewhere in that Area there is a U.S. Military installation that is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of some sort of program where they’re attempting to tap into that SAVAGERY that we have deeply embedded into us. The plan is create brilliantly instinctual killer soldiers that have no qualms about taking life.
After all this set up, Rambo is sent in to take out the program’s top killer when he goes AWOL. Even though this is supposed to be a “different” story for Rambo, I think we’ve all seen this before. The only thing I’m interested in is watching him come full circle. By the fifth film there has to be some form of closure involved.
Stallone is currently in post-production on The Expendables, and Rambo V is set to shoot next spring. Oddly enough, there’s already an early concept poster floating around for the film. Does this man ever take a break?
This poster has 5 minute Photoshop written all over it. This is definitely an “early piece.”
What do you think of the new story and title for Rambo V?
