Nicolas Cage is such a workhorse. He already has several films in development and has just signed on for another one. According to Empire, the Oscar winning actor is set to star in the revenge thriller Drive Angry. As if the title wasn’t enough to throw you for a loop, the film will be in 3-D. Angry driving in 3-D? In the words of Samuel L. Jackson in Jurassic Park, “Hold on to your butts.”
The premise for Drive Angry makes me feel really old due to the fact that Cage will portray a grandfather in the movie. The actor will play “a vengeful father who becomes embroiled in a bloody and protracted car chase with the goons who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby.” I think a wrinkle just developed as I typed that line. As the chase continues, the highway gets bloodier, and a slew of bodies are left in its wake.
The director of Drive Angry shouldn’t be a shock to any of us, its Patrick Lussier the man behind My Bloody Valentine: 3-D. He along with Todd Farmer wrote the script for the film, which will be produced for Nu Image/Millennium Films. Production is set to start next year in April.
Is Drive Angry what happens when you mix Gone in 60 Seconds, Death Proof, and a bit of Fast & Furious? I don’t know how I feel about watching Cage as a speeding grandpa. This whole concept is very strange to me.
What do you think about Cage signing on for Drive Crazy? Will you go see it?
