Picture 234 Hans Zimmer To Compose Call of Duty Score

Award winning composer Hans Zimmer is taking on a new challenge in his music career. According to Yahoo, Zimmer is taking his first step into the world of video games. He will write the music for one of the most highly anticipated game releases this year entitled, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a follow up to the uber popular Call of Duty 4. It is a first person shooter game published by Infinitiy and Activision. The first installment of the series was launched in 2003 and has been a mainstay in the gaming community ever since. This is an ambitious project for a newcomer such as Zimmer. Even though he’s had thorough experience in the film world, video games are a different kind of animal.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will hit shelves this fall on November 10th. Some of Zimmer’s previous work includes Driving Miss Daisy, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Dark Knight. I’m sure he can handle the score for Call of Duty. I just hope people don’t nit pick at him, because he’s making the leap to another medium. I’m trying to remember if there are any other notable film composers who have also worked on video game projects. Do you know of any?

What do you think of Hans Zimmer composing the music for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?

Michael Giacchino actually started composing scores for the video game series Medal of Honor before he went on to compose for TV shows like Alias and Lost, and movies like Speed Racer and Star Trek.

yeah one for example being Harry-Gregson-Williams a very famous composer for films such as Man on fire, The Rock along side Haz-Zimmer, and Shrek. He is also famous in the videogame industry for his famous works on the very popular METAL GEAR SOLID series, for example.
