Lost and Taken alum Maggie Grace is in negotiations to join James Mangold‘s untitled Wichita feature. According to THR, the young actress is set to star opposite Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in the spy thriller. The film will be produced by Fox, and has gone through some serious changes since the last time we covered it.
More on Grace’s role below…
Grace will play Diaz’s sister, who is in the middle of planning her upcoming wedding. She’s excited that Diaz will take the place of their late father and walk her down the aisle. When we reported on this film back in May, Variety was calling it an action comedy, and now THR describes it as a “spy-thriller.” Who do we believe?
The project centers on a lonely woman (Diaz) whose seemingly harmless blind date suddenly turns her life upside-down when a super spy (Cruise) takes her on a violent worldwide journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source.
It is possible that the film went through some development tweaks that have taken the script into another direction. I’m excited to see Diaz and Cruise back together again. They had amazing chemistry in Vanilla Sky even though their relationship was ridiculously disturbing.
