True Blood star Stephen Moyer just got hired for a feature film gig. According to Empire the British actor has joined the cast of Scott Stewart’s, upcoming film Priest, which is a live action adaptation of the novel with the same name. The current cast already includes Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, and Karl Urban.
Find out more on Moyer and his character below.
The story of the film will center on “a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.”
Apparently, Moyer just can’t seem to get away from vampires! Maybe he really is one?
In a smart move, Moyer won’t be portraying a vampire in the film, instead he’ll be the brother of Bettany’s character. This casting is cutting it a bit close, considering the fact that filming on Priest starts today and they just added Moyer and actress Lily Collins, who will star as the captured niece.
On an interesting side note, Collins is the daughter of Genesis musician Phil Collins, and recently had a stint on The CW revamp of 90210. Stephen Moyer of course plays Bill, the vampire with a conscience on HBO’s hit series True Blood.
I’m happy to see him in a project that doesn’t involve him wearing fangs or pale make up, although it would be nice to see him leave the genre.
