The long awaited feature adaptation of Queen & Country is closer than we think. The Cold War era comic book is being developed into a live action feature over at 20th Century Fox. According to Empire, the long-gestating project has finally landed a screenwriter. This means the studio is moving in the right direction in terms of it’s production. More on the new writer below.
Galahad and Hercules writer Ryan Condal has been hired to pen Queen & Country’s screenplay, following the first draft by John Moore. The comic centers on “a female Brit Special Ops agent stationed in Eastern Europe,” and at one point had Oscar winner Nicole Kidman attached in the lead role. “Written by Greg Rucka from 2001 to 2007, the series is said to have been inspired by little-known ITV series about front-line personnel during the Cold War called The Sandbaggers.”
At the moment no one has been cast in the film including the main character. Who could play the young, British lead? There are so many people to choose from. The most obvious choice I’ve heard is Keira Knightley, but I’m not sure that would work. Perhaps, someone who is a little less known? I don’t think she’s a bad actress, I’d just like to see some new blood.
Who do you think should be cast in Queen & Country?
