I am a die-hard x-files fan, and now my 13 year old is really loving it too, thanks to netflix. I have to say though, that at the end of the series, they gave the impression that Scully and Mulder would continue, together. Imagine my disappointment when IWTB came out with them living seperate lives and not continuing to fight the good fight. However, despite this one and only let down, I would love to see a 12/22/2012 finalization.

I recently discovered X-files and am wrapping up the series on Netflix. It's great, and despite being older, it's as good, or better, than anything that's come since. The only thing close is Fringe, which is exceptional, but it (Fringe) lacks the depth of character development that X-files had with Mulder and Scully. I would not want to see a recast or reboot, because the nature of the characters do not demand that; it would be interesting to continue to see Mulder and Scully as both they and their knowledge grows.

See? We all want a 3rd one. We can't help it. We believe. We all miss the story, the characters – nothing will replace that – I don't think any of us who love it can explain it. (Just, please, no Amanda Peet…)

I'd be all for it…if it was good. Why not? I mean, the second movie really wasn't BAD per se, as a typical X-Files episode…but it hardly followed the deeper mystery of the show that most X-Philes want to see addressed. That's why it was disappointing to most. We need to see a continuation, period. No backtracking, no stand-alone episode based soley on the charcaters. We need to see how earth fairs AFTER the invasion…and how Mulder and Scully prepare to lead a rebellion and help the human race vie for the right to galactic exploration…as the deepest secrets of what the government does are revealed. Where we actually see them TALK with aliens and form relationships with them. We need an X-Files of the 4th, 5th or 6th Kind. We need to move on from the perpetual Third Kind flavor of the series..and of the stupid late-night monster-horror weekly freak shows for Red Bull drinking kiddies. We need Mulder & Scully to move into that other dimension that has been waved under the noses of X-Files for the past 19 years. We need Mulder and Scully to move beyond the FBI and maybe join some kind of global…or intergalactic…organization. The whole spiel of the renegade FBI ghost/alien chasers has got to go. That's kind of how it all got old.

I think most people didn't listen when Carter said the second movie was a stand alone.
The first worked great and the thrid would get back to the mythoogy that made the first movie and show so great. Also since it would wrap up the series it would be the finale movie. So in 2012 we want to see the end of the story. Assuming we aren't distroyed by the real life 2012 prediction ourselves.

The people who write these articles are as stupid as the idiots who run the networks and wrap up great tv series before they reach a conclusion! Who in their right minds would watch a good series or film halfway through and then turn it off never to watch the ending? They clearly don't have the same desire as many of us who enjoy this type of program. Other scifi series involving alien invasions have all received the same treatment by the US networks and these network bosses have become a joke. To name but a few there was The Invaders, Invasion, Dark Skies and more recently V the new series.

We need a Third movie in 2012 to round out the Alien Colonization mytharc. The Smoking Man straight up said that the date of the final alien invasion was set for December 22, 2012 in the final episode. Chris Carter MUST know that he HAS to release a movie next year (hopefully to open on 12/22) to close the open holes in that plot.

Heck yes, we need a third movie. They've had a great story going since the show started, and I for one would really like to see how it ends. After that, they can do what they want, but seriously, we need at least one more.

I don't really get why people think IWTB was such a bad movie. It was really well written and kept me entertained throughout. Duchovny really brought his Hank Moody character to the screen.

I think a third movie would be awesome, but I'm happy just watching the original series again on netflix.. Maybe I'll get through it all by 2012!

A third movie would be wonderful. The main reasons the second failed was because it opened the second week of the dark night, bad promoting, and it didn’t involve the mythology. It was a decent movie but people want to see aliens and the third movie would deliver that if it was made. We need to see what happens next. The series was supposed to continue so it would be nice to finish the story. Plus with all of this 2012

the Movie was great i loved it I think most people who never fully finished watching x-files think that the movie should have something to do with aliens because the dnt understand what chris was trying to do I feel like he was trying to put mulder and scully at ease, even in the series the whole alien arc was concluded when that secret society were burned alive and the smoking man got pushed down a flight of stairs by krycek hell speaking of krycek skinner shot him in the head all the ties to the alien conspiracy were wipe out, so the movie was about mulder and scully keeping faith even after all they've been through
