Solomon Kane

We haven’t heard much about the live action adaptation of Solomon Kane. There was a panel held at this year’s Comic-Con for the anti-hero but that’s about it. Today out of the blue some official photos from the film have been released, and the general public can finally get a glimpse of James Purefoy as the title character. Expect lots of stringy hair, mud, and rain to ensue. View the photos below.

Solomon Kane is based on the 16th century warrior created by Robert E. Howard. Kane is a somber-looking man who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. His adventures, published mostly in the pulp magazine Weird Tales, often take him from Europe to the jungles of Africa and back.

The film adaptation will be directed by Michael J. Bassett, who made his directorial debut with 2002′s Deathwatch. The film is described as an “origin story” that will follow Kane’s time from an English mercenary to a peaceful Puritan. A U.S. release date hasn’t been set as of yet, so stay tuned for updates.
