Do we need a follow up to last year’s Hancock? I mean really? Can’t we all agree that it was an OK movie, and move on? According to the SciFi Wire, the film’s director Peter Berg has more story to tell, and he’s spilling the beans on Hancock 2. If you haven’t seen the film already, the rest of this post is filled with potential spoilers. More on the sequel below.

In a recent interview Berg, stated that the next Hancock film would elaborate more on the mythological element of it’s predecessor. “There might be another god out there. Might be another one.” So, a third god to add on to Will Smith and Charlize Theron? What effect will it have on those two? With an idea like this, the studio doesn’t exactly want to take their precious time with it. They want to make the movie asap, but Berg and Smith are a bit busy at the moment.

“They like to fast-track it, but Will’s busy, I’m pretty busy,” Berg continued. “We’re excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don’t feel a burning imperative to go right back into it.”

I’m all for waiting on a decent script, but did they do that the first time around? Hancock wasn’t the best thing cooking last summer. If you saw it you’d know it was like watching two different movies rolled into one. Sometimes that’s an awesome thing, but in this case it was a disaster. I’m not personally in a rush to see another Hancock hit the big screen, are you?

Are you interested in a Hancock sequel? What story could they tell with another god?
