Actress Natalie Portman is becoming a multi-talented entity in Hollywood. Not only is she producing the upcoming film Hesher (she also co-stars), but she’s adding another project to her lengthy resume. According to Variety, Portman will produce the comedy, Booksmart. It’s a coming of age story that will be backed by parent studio, 20th Century Fox.
More on Booksmart after the jump…
Booksmart is a high school comedy that centers on “two overachieving high school seniors who realize the only thing they haven’t accomplished is having boyfriends, and each resolves to find one by prom.” The script for the project will be written by Emily Harper and Sarah Haskins. Portman will produce with her partner Annette Savitch, through their Handsomecharlie banner.
Another feature that has Portman in the producer’s chair, is Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, which once again has her as a co-star. She’s still young, but not young enough to play a teenager. I wonder if she’ll try to find a way to incorporate herself into this cast as well? I’d like to see some fresh faces please.
What do you think about Natalie Portman positioning herself as a producer?
