Battlestar Galactica fans rejoice! Actor Edward James Olmos has another gig. According to Hollywood Snitch, the veteran performer has landed a role in the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Green Hornet. He will join the recently cast Jay Chou as Kato, and Seth Rogen as the title character. Michel Gondry will direct from a script co-written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
Not much has been said regarding Olmos’ role. No character description no nada. All we have to go on is a quote he gave during a recent interview. “I’m on my way to do ‘The Green Hornet,’” Olmos told me. “It’ll be a lot of fun with Seth [Rogen], Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz.” He pretty much confirmed Cage’s “rumored” casting right there. Diaz spilled the beans on her involvement back at Comic-Con, so that wasn’t a huge surprise. I know she will star as the romantic interest, and Cage will be the villain, but who could Olmos play?
Over at /Film they’ve got a theory on who he could be.
It is possible that he could play Gunnigan, who is described on wikipedia as “the irascible city editor of The Daily Sentinel (whose temper invariably got worse in the presence of Axford or even when Axford was talking to him on the phone).”
Hmm, that sounds like a logical hypothesis. This film has come such a long way. I never thought it would get made, and I know a few people who still don’t want it to. The Green Hornet is set for release next year on July 9th.
What do you think of Edward James Olmos joining the Green Hornet cast?
