The rumors regarding the follow up to the “surprise” hit The Hangover was put to rest when it blew away its competition with its June debut. The film gave some well earned exposure to stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, and Zach Galifianakis. With all the success surrounding the movie, you’d think everyone would be gung ho to do another one. According to IGN, Mr. Galifianakis isn’t quite sure about another installment.

Find out the truth behind his skepticism after the jump.

In a recent interview, Galifianakis gave his thoughts on the upcoming Hangover 2 and director Todd Phillips.

“He is writing the script. But I haven’t seen the script. I’m not running to do The Hangover 2. I told Todd, the last thing I want is the Police Academy chain all of the sudden, where I’m only known from… You’ve got to be careful with something like that.”

“The movie’s really good, why bother with a sequel? And I’m not saying that I’m not going to do it. I’m just posing these questions. These are things I ask Todd. Obviously, the reason is executives have Bentleys to pay for. I would love, love, love to work with those guys again. The script has to be good! But I’m working with Todd on a movie we’ll be shooting in about six weeks. So I’ll do that first, and then we’ll see how it goes.”

It sounds like someone got real serious all of a sudden. I have to respect him for his point of view. He’s right. The movie can stand alone without a sequel, but people want to milk this cow for all it’s worth. The budget for the first film was 35 million, and so far it’s brought in $257,937,802 at the box office. Do you know how many college tuition’s that money will pay for? I would stick by Zach 100 percent in his statement about quality scripts, if it wasn’t for his recent role in G-Force. I can’t let that go.

Do you think they should make a Hangover 2? Should the first movie be left as is?
